Thank you for the video! A trick I learned while doing my own: instead of using a vise to compress the spring, simple push the sling ring/retainer forward towards the tip of the barrel and tap the back of it with a hammer. The sling ring will gradually push down the spring as you tap it out, and effectively removes your other retainer as well.
.38-40 the bullet is .400 inches .41 Long Colt is ~ .38 inches .45-70-405 is caliber, powder charge, bullet weight He left out semi-rimmed Bad news-good news, he touched on this some cartridges are one way interchangeable such as .38 Special in .357 Magnum in.357 Maximum. Very bad news .38 APC is exactly the same size as .38 Super. And if the Super is fired in the APC there is a very strong chance the gun will be destroyed and your shooting eye will be injured or destroyed as well.
30/30 was never loaded with blackpowder. Just so you know. +P does not mean more powder. It means it's loaded to higher pressure, and should not be used in guns designed for standard pressure cartridges.+P 38 special cartridges should not be used in older (metallurgically soft) or alloy-frame (aluminum) revolvers. The gun won't blow up. But you will stretch the metal and increase cylinder gap. 38 Super +P will eventually shear the cross pin in an older 1900 or 1902 38 auto pistol. 38, 380, 38 Super, 38 AMU, etcetera were not named after the neck diameter. Cap & ball revolvers (Civil War era) were .38 caliber round ball and the designation carried over to 38 Special and subsequent 38 rounds.
Try keeping tube fully loaded for 2or3 weeks unload it and see the difference
Why I shouldn't buy guns!!
Just as stupid as the imperial measurement system that Americans for some reason still hold on to.
Here in Canada we made it simple by using the potato gun. Ammunition: Potato. Names : Bud the spud, Potato. Terms: Yukon Gold - Russet - Red - White.
I’m sorry you have no second amendment 😢
Um… Expert grade vs Custom
i really like it wish u the best
Shitty video!! You need to hold parts still without twerling them around as it causes it to get out of fucus!! Plus i can't see pertant details for my own knowledge!!
Wish I could get the lever pin back in, I’ve been trying for over an hour
Nice one Mate! Cheers.
Probably the world's most difficult system of nomenclature.
A lot of them are junk. Service grade rifles that really are real and way to expensive. A good one cost as much as an m1a
Insert a cartridge most of the way, take the next cartridge and shove the first cartridge in with the bullet of the second cartridge. Repeat this until you have the 10th cartridge halfway in. Shove it in with an 11th round, or an unsharpened pencil, or a dowel. You don't have to put your finger into that finger guillotine.
This guy is brain dead. I would never even think about shooting with ĥim on a shooting range

Malice aforethought? It's a nice sunny day. Not my problem. One more word Cold
As a Brit I know nothing of guns, so I searched for this vid just to understand what their talking about on films & stuff …………… why make it so overtly complicated, 😱
The burning question that I dont see anyone asking is.... HOW LONG is your plug?? Great idea but details like this would be helpful
Was ‘t the first center fire cartridge/rifle adopted by the US, the Model 1866 Rifle firing the 50-70 CF cartridge?
Just acquired one its such an honor to have one of these fine rifles I love it
We bought one and the keys won't turn
I just got one about a month ago there not hard to load mine is great people just make videos to crap on them
This IS useful! Thanks.
Thank so much for this video, I had this dang thing apart 5 times and then found that collar for the ejector sitting on the table and couldn't figure out where it went
CMP "has" changed their quantity you can purchase. Last time I was at the Anniston, AL store and purchased M1's, you could purchase 13 a year. I purchased 9 of them, all with slings and bayonets. CMP shipped to me to off set the tax issues, being from out of state. Some of them were Special Grade which I kept for myself. The others (Service Grade) I gave to my two sons (2 each) and sold some to off set the cost of my trip down there. If you want to purchase an M1 Garand and have the time, I highly recommend you drive down the Anniston and visit the CMP Store. To walk in and see their display of WW2 weapons will make you smile. I spent some time there and was able to visit with several of the employees who I will say are some of the nicest individuals you would ever have an opportunity to visit. They will answer all your questions and advise you on purchases. You can pick out your purchase right off the display rack. Therefore you know what your buying before you pay for the weapon. Your time there will be well worth the trip. For me, it reminded me of my 8 weeks of Basic Training at Fort Polk, LA back in 1962. Yes, I laid out there on that rifle range and fired that M1 until my cheek was sore....
I have 4 Rossi's, and the tubes and feeding gate all loosen up after a box or two of rounds for even the most stiff rifle I bought. Most were worked in just fine after 20 rounds. I own a 20 inch stainless R92 .454 Casull, a 20 inch blued R92 in .357 Mag, a blued 24 inch octagon barrel .44 Mag R92, and a R95, blued 20 bbl .30-30. I adore all of them. Best rifles in their price range bar none. I'm hunting down an R95 in .45-70 now. Sold out, but I'll get one soon. Do not hesitate people. The Rossi's are amazing rifles. Save the money you'd spend on a Winchester Miroku and buy one of these. You won't regret it. I actually found my Miroku was super ammo picky. These Rossi's aren't ammo picky so far as I've seen. All the ammo I could not get to run in my Miroku Winchester has all long since been shot out of my Rossi. I sold the Winchester. Too picky on ammo. Beautiful doesn't count, when a rifle is selective on what it'll fire.
949 works great in single action but in dbl 7 ends will go through then gets hung up on cycling the next t Rounds! On double action the trigger is hard to pull! Do you have any thoughts?
I unfortunately don't know a lot getting into the details of the mechanism. I'm just decent at following directions.
seriously? this was useful? Why ? smh, I like the video but now I am angry.
I still dont understand how 30mm can be a giant size of A10 Warthog airplane bullet... It's like the size of 5 Coors light can but more fat...
Shout out to your cat

I really appreciate your expertise on the Trapdoor rifles. I have a question regarding my reproduction 1873 Trapdoor Carbine from H&R: is there a trigger return spring in the trigger mechanism? (At full cock, the trigger is slack until it hits the point of sear release).
I haven't been in these a while lot, but I don't think that there is. The trigger and lock mechanisms are straight out of muzzle loaders, and I don't know that they were concerned about such things back then. I have a video where I took the trigger assembly out, it's the only time I've ever removed it. I don't show a lot of detail, but you can see it here. ua-cam.com/video/Lq0bbgAMdWw/v-deo.html
Hey man recently i got interested in guns and this was the PERFECT guide to know basically everything about ammunition and everything related to it!
You have never shot any gun looks like
Use 2 hands man
Lol i though u were gonna faint when that gun went off. Is this your first time with blaxk powder. Thats o k . Just keep practicing.i have all ways wanted to have one of these . Hiw much
How much
Love that model
I just bought a trapdoor carbine, looks like 84 model. The gunshop is honest and assured me it was inspected by a gunsmith before sale. When I load a catridge the trapdoor lever remains covering the firing pin button and the trapdoor doesn't feel fully locked. The cartridge primer comes out with a small dent in it. Is this normal?
I don't recall seeing dented primers in mine, but I haven't really loaded in cartridges and not shot not (at least not often). I know that there are some older firearms that do that. The trapdoor should feel fully locked down and not feel like it's coming open. But some side to side movement isn't unusual, as well as maybe a bit of up and down. Remember that when it's fired the hammer will be down on it and that adds some pressure on the door that helps hold it down. Put the hammer down and see how much movement you have on it, and that could tell you a lot. But it's hard for me tell judge what is a "normal" amount of movement over UA-cam comments. The best rule is that if you don't feel completely confident in it, then don't shoot it until someone more qualified can look it over.
@PoindexterG thanks, I took it back to the gunsmith and he found that the firing pin was out of spec, slightly too long
2024 Rack Grade is $700. Trash IMO
THE PIN WILL NOT FIT
Dynamit Noble RWS caps are the Best
Does your rifle have the Yogo crest on the receiver ring?
Yes it does, it really makes it look very nice compared to some other Mausers.
You got some of your History right and some of it wrong . Good video.
Thank you for this video!
